Even a journey of 1000 miles starts with 1st step. Talkin Gita is a beginning of a spiritual journey.

It all started in the year 2003-04. After graduation in 2000 and post my 3 year CA internship, I appeared for my CA final examinations. The results were not positive for 2 successive attempts. I had always been an above average student, generally securing good grades however somehow I couldn’t crack the CA Final. I was on verge of losing my self confidence.

At the time when it looked next to impossible to clear that exam, I caught hold of pocket edition of Bhagvad Gita with hindi translation. As I was turning through pages, I stopped at that magic verse which, even though I have heard many times before, it made sense only on that night.

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥

You have the right to work only but never to its fruits. Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction. (BG 2-47)

This verse immediately took away all my apprehensions and self doubt. I realized that it is only action which is in my control. Another verse that acted as powerful booster was

यं हि न व्यथयन्त्येते पुरुषं पुरुषर्षभ ।
समदु:खसुखं धीरं सोऽमृतत्वाय कल्पते ॥

The one who is calm and even minded , never ruffled during pain and pleasure , he alone gains consciousness of his eternal existence. (BG 2-15)

The above 2 verses acted like an instant pain killer that night. After reading these verses, all my anxiety and apprehensions were gone. I made a stronger resolve to “do my best and leave the rest”. In the time that followed, I cleared my CA Final exams.

After that day, I got glued to reading various spiritual text including a daily dose of Bhagvad Gita every morning.

Coming back to this blog, most of the articles appearing on this blog are inspired from wisdom and learning of Bhagvad Gita, Buddha and other philosophers mixed together with my own deliberations during my daily meditation sessions. Few years back, I started penning down these thoughts and shared it once in a while with friends and family members. Some of them encouraged me to share these reflections via a blog. This lead to creation of TalkinGita.

The idea behind this blog is to help and inspire those who might be feeling lost in middle of night or are in some kind of self doubt. Even if it is able to touch and improve one soul, my objective is fulfilled.
